That’s so 90′s …or not

Last night I bought three CD’s. Why? Because I love music and I love CD’s. They are a rare opportunity to get a piece of music experience without going to a show. Not every musical act you care about tours to your neighborhood, town, city, area within a reasonable driving distance. Other ways to “get” the music experience, excluding the internet, are T-shirts (or other apparel) and posters. I rarely wear T-shirts, not really my thing, and when I do they are plain. And for posters, I don’t really need a picture of 4 guys on my wall, also not my thing. If it works for you, kudos.

If a CD is done well, it can give more personality to a band who has something to say. They can create a world for a fan to buy into. Great CD’s for their packaging are; Radiohead (kid A, In Rainbows), Tool (Lateralus, Aenima, 10,000 Days) and Nine Inch Nails (The Fragile, Broken) are the first that come to mind.

I know what year it is. I know many people disagree with me. If I tell people I want a CD. People tell me to “Just buy it from iTunes.” Sure, I can. Then I must keep track each song’s 3 computer limit. With a CD, I have a hard copy. If my external crashes, I have back-ups.

Either way, I believe CD’s are better and iTunes unless someone convinces me otherwise. That has yet to happen and I have yet to buy a song from iTunes. Yesterday, when I went to the store, I meant to buy one CD. I bought three. They upsold me and I love it.

What did I buy?
Stone Temple Pilots – Stone Temple Pilots
Metallica – Death Magnetic
The Prodigy – Invaders Must Die

Reviews of each to come …possibly.

The system was down

If you visited the site this Sunday evening, it may have appeared different than usual. I tinkered with the backend and broke it for a few hours. After becoming dejected, my girlfriend saved the day with her awesome trouble-shooting skills. Everything was fixed in 45 minutes or less. Keep enjoying Zoo Street.

Thanks,

Internet killed the radio star

If you love music and entertainment as much as I do, you’re probably always looking for a reliable source to get your fix. I just found another great internet radio site. Slacker Radio is categorized by genre with a sleuth of sub-genres. If you like Rock music, choose between 16 channels of rock. If you like Jazz, choose between 8 channels ranging from Classic Jazz to Acid Jazz. If you like comedy, and who doesn’t, choose between the two simple options of explicit or non-explicit comedy.

I have been listening to this for the last few days on my iPod touch. That’s right, there’s an app for that. Not only for iPhones + iPod Touches, but also Blackberries and Androids, as well as other mobile devices. Check the site out for yourself.

Why am I writing such a review you ask? Pandora and Last.fm haven’t been cutting it for me lately. They are still good sources, but I believe Slacker Radio needs some attention.

Cheers,

…And the plot thickens

Well… not the plot, but the website. The Character’s page is live. Check it out and find out more about the main characters. More characters will join them later. If there is any information you’re curious about, write a comment or shoot me an email and I could add it.

Marchin’ to SuperBowl 44

I know I said hiatus until March 1, but I had to do something to commemorate this historic event moment. The New Orleans Saints winning the NFC Championship and going to SuperBowl 44. I should have put this up two weeks ago when we won the NFC Championship.

Also, notice in the bottom left the url beinthatnumber.com. It is a site my office made since we are such Saints fans. Another fun fact, my office was started the same year the Saint formed back in 1967.

I need to find a Indianapolis-based comic to make a SuperBowl bet. I doubt I’ll find one so soon.

Geaux Saints!
WHO DAT!
